Ilkley Coronavirus Response Group has merged into Ilkley Community Network, but still meets regularly with partners to review developments and respond as needed.
The Ilkley Corona Response helpline is now closed but people seeking assistance can contact 01274 431000 or NHS Responders (0808 196 3646) for help with shopping, prescription collection, telephone chats and transport for medical appointments.
Ilkley Town Mayor, Cllr Mark Stidworthy said "I would like to express deep gratitude to everybody involved in Ilkley’s Coronavirus response: those with the foresight to kickstart the Group; those who provided the technical expertise for the helpline and volunteer database; key workers and volunteers at Ilkley Good Neighbours and CABAD who provided advice and day-to-day support including befriending, shopping, prescription collection and PPE coordination."
"The sewing team performed incredible work on scrubs and face coverings. Around 40 musicians continue morale-boosting socially-distanced performances at care and residential homes. The Ilkley Food Bank has responded to increased demand and recruited new volunteers. Local coordinators at street level were very valuable. Others worked on planning, fund-raising and assessment of local needs. Alongside our incredible NHS, residential and private care workers, key workers in Bradford Council, the emergency services, essential businesses and schools, this formed the backbone of Ilkley’s pandemic response."
"Ilkley’s young people and schools deserve recognition, especially those students receiving A-level and GCSE results. Students worked hard towards these and should be celebrating and looking forward to their futures. Instead, chaotic results delivery has undermined this. "Covid-19 brought normality for thousands of young people to an abrupt and unexpected end in March. They and their families responded incredibly to the challenges of continuing their education and supporting their friends.
