Though the Ilkley Manor House isn’t able to open its doors to the public just yet they are still putting on some events to welcome the Spring.

The Spring programme is now out with a range of events and exhibitions focused on the outdoor courtyard and online. Information about all the events happening during the Spring are available to view on the website now – www.ilkleymanorhouse.org

On 5th April 2021 we will celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the Manor House Trust taking over the house from Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

Sarah Thomas, Chair of Ilkley Manor House Trust, said: "It is a shame that we are not able to celebrate this in the house, but we are planning a ‘Super at 60’ event later in the year with an exhibition about the transformation of the Manor House into an museum and art gallery in the 1960s and how it has developed since then.

"We are continuing to plan for the house reopening later in the Summer and we are really excited to be getting ready to put on the exhibition of the Ilkley Lockdown Community Quilt and creative responses to the lockdowns. Our current plan is to open this exhibition at the end of July’

Nick Robinson, Operations Manager at the Manor House., said: "The Manor House was registered as a wedding venue just prior to the first lockdown which impacted on a number of potential bookings we had for the house. However, the interest in using the house as a venue for all kinds of celebratory events has increased again in the last few weeks – which is very encouraging’

The Manor House's next major event is an outdoor exhibition of aerial photos of Ilkley from 1940s – 1980s taken by C H Wood (Bradford) Ltd. The images are now on displayed in the courtyard until early June. Admission is free though donations would be welcome via the QR code on display.

There is also a Spring bird trail hunt around the courtyard with downloadable fact sheets, recordings of bird song and birds to find in the gardens, more information is available on the website.

Sarah added: "The very successful monthly Virtual Coffee Morning talks will continue for the time being with the next one being held on 30 April and will focus on Olicana, the Roman fort and will be given by John Cockshott, Chair of the Friends of the Manor House.

"We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our open spaces over the coming months and into the house during the Summer."
