School and families are being encouraged to get creative outdoors this Christmas with a day at the Nell Bank Outdoor Education Centre up for grabs.
The Ilkley charity has been there for youngsters throughout the pandemic and is still opening its doors to schools, despite the current lockdown.
But like many charities, it’s had to cancel the usual round of festive events and so this year it’s organised a competition to get people out into the countryside and create winter decorations from natural materials. The tutors will be sharing ideas and a ‘how to’ guide on social media.
The rules are simple. To enter, share a photo of your creation on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #nellbank and then like or follow the centre on social media and share or tag 2 friends.
Dan Goodey, Head of Centre at Nell Bank said: “We have not been able to have any public events at Nell Bank this year where people can come and enjoy the great outdoors with us, but we are really excited to encourage children and families to get outside and create some winter decorations out of natural materials and to share them. It’s the perfect opportunity for people to use their creations to bring a few smiles to their friends, families and neighbours faces.”
Two lucky prize-winners will be treated to a day visit to Nell Bank. One for an entry from an individual, who will be able to invite their family and one for a school class.
The tutors at Nell Bank will be busy creating their own natural decorations as well, which will be exhibited in the windows of Ilkley Manor House, along with the winning entries.
The competition closes on Monday 14th December.
