Cross Hills journalist launches ghostwriting firm for family stories

A former Craven Herald journalist has launched a new business to help people write and publish their own memoirs as a book.

Lindsey Moore from Cross Hills has teamed up with Harden-based graphic designer Lisa Firth for the new venture, called 'LifeStories'.

Lindsey spent 25 years with the Skipton-based Craven Herald as its Deputy Editor before going on to edit the Yorkshire nostalgia magazine 'Down Your Way'.

She said: “Some family stories are passed down through the ages, but, sadly, many others are lost for ever. It was only recently, by recording my mum’s memories, that I learnt that my grandfather, John Rawle, won a Military Cross during the First World War for disabling a gun emplacement that was firing on his men. As he never talked about his war service, his heroism has faded into oblivion, but his courage should be remembered, especially by the family.

“Everyone has a story to tell, and our business will give loved ones the most precious gift of all: the gift of their memories to pass on to future generations.”

Lisa has worked in the publishing industry as a graphic designer, typesetter and copy editor for over 15 years. Through her business Fully Booked, she provides book cover design, typesetting and editorial services to publishers and independent authors. She is also herself an award-winning
author, with nine published novels under two pen names.

She said: “I’m very excited to be launching LifeStories with Lindsey, helping people to capture their memories and experiences for future generations to treasure. I’m sure most of us have said to ourselves ‘oh, I wish I’d asked Grandma or Grandad more about their life when they were with us’. Our lives and our stories are every one unique, and deserve to be remembered and celebrated. These books will, I hope, be family heirlooms for many generations to come.”
