Could your art help move people out of their cars?

People in North Yorkshire are invited to create art that will inspire others to leave their cars behind and cycle or walk instead – and two £50 prizes are waiting for the best works.

North Yorkshire County Council's sustainable travel team is running the competition, which is open until Saturday, 30 April.

Fiona Ancell, Team Leader, Safety and Travel Awareness, said: “We’re inviting entrants to create a poster using any medium, including recycled materials. It could be a drawing, painting, print, textiles, collage or montage – whatever they like, as long as it encourages and inspires others to use active modes of travel.

"Entries will be judged by our panel on their originality, creativity, ideas and how well they fit the brief. Two winners will each receive a £50 shopping voucher. The winning entries will be used in an active travel campaign across the county".

Artwork must by A4 portrait size (210 x 297mm), sent as a high-resolution file, preferably JPEG or PDF. Entries should not include copyright characters or logos.

Email your entry to opennorthyorkshire@northyorks.gov.uk by Saturday, 30 April, 2022. Judging will take place by Friday, 6 May.

Alternatively, people can post their entry to Road Safety and Active Travel, North Yorkshire County Council, Business and Environmental Services, County Hall, Racecourse Lane, Northallerton, DL7 8AH.
