Airedale Hospital charity raises massive £429k in year to April 2022

The Airedale Hospital and Community Charity has thanked its supporters after revealing in its annual report for 2021-22 that it raised more than £400,000.

The report contains news from the charity - the official charity of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust - between April 2021 and March 2022.

The annual report details the notable events, fundraisers, donations and appeals that took place during the year, key statistics about the charity’s income and spend, how the charity has been able to support patients and staff at Airedale, important projects that the charity is working on, as well as messages from the charity’s Chair and Director of Corporate Affairs.

Thanks to the support and generous donations from the community, the charity raised a fantastic £429,000 in the year 2021/22.

Through donations, fundraising and grants, the charity was able to fund important items and projects to improve patient experience and staff wellbeing.

This included a renovation of Airedale’s Hydrotherapy Pool through the ‘Make a Splash!’ appeal; state-of-the-art equipment for the Urology Department to treat bladder and kidney stones; a vein viewer to easily find veins in small children who need a blood test; and smart devices to assist with upper limb rehabilitation.

In total, the charity spent £134,000 on staff welfare, £98,000 on patient welfare, and £19,000 on medical equipment.

Rhys Davies, Chair of Airedale Hospital & Community Charity, said: “As Chair of Airedale Hospital & Community Charity, I have seen for myself the fantastic difference support and donations make to both patients and colleagues in our hospital and community services. Our supporters and donors have helped us to raise nearly £430,000 over the year and given us donations such as gifts for our patients at Christmas and toys for our children’s unit.

“I’m astounded by the generosity of spirit that has been shown to our Charity and Trust in these difficult times and I would like to thank everyone for showing their love for Airedale.”

Jodie Hearnshaw, manager at Airedale Hospital & Community Charity, said: “It’s been a busy year for the charity promoting our work, raising funds, ensuring good governance in how those funds are spent, supporting donors, and ensuring we remain a positive and active partner in our community.

“We can’t do this work without our community’s continued support. On behalf of the charity and the Trust, I want to thank everyone for their kindness and help. We have lots of exciting plans for 2023 and together we can make a real difference for those who use and provide our services.”
