A Blue Plaque for The Rombalds Ilkley

Ilkley Civic Society’s blue plaque scheme has a new installation, The Rombalds on Wells Road is the 20th plaque.

The scheme celebrates the history of Ilkley and buildings that have shaped the town and is modelled on the familiar blue plaques which appear in London, Leeds and other places.

The Ilkley scheme started in 2004 with two blue plaques - the Town Hall unveiled by Alan Titchmarsh and Ilkley Manor House unveiled by Ann Cryer MP.

The Rombalds plaque is sponsored by Burley Developments and Ilkley Civic Society, who hope to celebrate the plaque and the history of the building with the residents of The Rombalds next year.

The building was The Rombalds Hotel until December 2016 and is now home to luxury apartments. Previously it has been the Crescent House Hotel [1931], Usher’s Boarding House [1865] and The Crescent lodging house [1834].
