Following the closure of the White Wells public convenience at the start of the Covid pandemic, Bradford District and Ilkley Town Councils are pleased to have reached agreement to renew their partnership to enable this locally valued toilet facility to re-open as soon as it is re-commissioned.

This will make the toilet available to the many visitors to Ilkley Moor including school and youth groups.

Work will begin to ensure that the toilets are fit for purpose with the aim of having them open for use as soon as possible.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport said: “I am delighted that an agreement has been reached. By working in partnership we will be able to offer a better service for visitors and residents.”

Ilkley Town Mayor Councillor Mark Stidworthy said: "Many visitors and residents have made clear the importance of these toilets at an iconic Ilkley location, for both recreational and educational visits to the Moor. Thank you to the many people who have been involved in pushing for and negotiating their re-opening. I am glad that the Town Council is able to commit resources and play its part alongside Bradford Council to ensure that they re-open."
