Plans revealed for development of Otley Street in Skipton

Local residents in Skipton are being encouraged to have their say about proposals to redevelop the area of Otley Street alongside Craven Court.

The work is part of Craven District Council's project using more than £1.5m of Historic England funding to enhance historic streets within the town centre as part of a 'High Street Heritage Action Zone'.

The council has worked with the organisation as well as Craven Court's owners Praxis on the plans, aimed at encouraging people to spend more time in the area and help boost trade for shops, businesses and cafes.

If the work goes ahead it would include replacing overgrown shrubs with Yorkshire stone flags to create an outdoor space for events, planting new shrubs, grasses and smaller trees, installing benches and cycle parking and providing lighting and power supplies to support events and commercial opportunities in the area.

Craven District Council wants comments on the proposals, which will help shape the final designs ahead of construction starting in Spring 2022.

You can see the plans at cravendc.gov.uk/haz and take part in the survey by clicking surveymonkey.co.uk/r/HTZ8Q7V

The consultation will close on 7th January 2022.
