Local schools make Sunday Times list of best in UK

Skipton Girls' High School, Ermysted's Grammar and Ilkley Grammar are among the top ten state secondary schools in the North of England according to rankings published this weekend.

Parent Power 2022 identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK. The definitive primary and secondary school rankings use the most recent moderated public examination results from the state and independent sectors.

Skipton Girls' High School came out as the second best state secondary school in the North, just behind Ripon Grammar, and was ranked 88th nationally.

Ermysted's in Skipton is ranked third in the North, and joint 117th across the UK.

Ilkley Grammar is placed 7th in the list of the North's best state secondaries, and in 171st place nationally.

Prince Henry's Grammar School in Otley also makes the top 20 in the North, placing 18th in the region and 257th in the UK, while St Mary's Menston is 20th in the North and 287th nationally.

At primary level, the only local school to make the Top 20 in the North list is Burley and Woodhead C of E Primary, which is ranked 4th in the region, and named as the 74th best state primary school in the UK.
