Ilkley charity dinner serves up thousands for hospice

A popular black-tie dinner in Ilkley which raises vital funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope has returned for the 17th year.

The annual Beef & Beer Dinner, which is organised by members of the Manorlands Challenge Committee, took place at the Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley on Thursday 10 November.

And it has been announced today that the event, which was attended by more than 200 guests from local businesses, raised an incredible £46,774 to help fund the expert palliative care and support that the hospice provides for people who are living with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The evening started with a Timothy Taylor’s drinks reception and welcome speech by guest speaker Tim Finney, followed by a delicious four-course meal with beef supplied by Dovecote Park.

It was then time for the exclusive live auction, with lots including a Timothy Taylor’s brewery tour, corporate hospitality packages at both Thirsk and Haydock racecourses, and a private dining experience for eight with Thomas Robertson, Head Chef at The Coniston Hotel.

Harriet Wood, Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said: “We are once again delighted with the success of this event and we feel truly grateful to be able to work with such wonderful supporters and companies who continue to support our work year-on-year.

“Thank you to Timothy Taylor’s Brewery and Dovecote Park, who provided very generous donations of beef and beer, and to all our guests who attended on the night. The funds you have raised will help our hospice to continue to provide the specialist care and support that patients and their loved ones need when it matters most - not just within the walls of the hospice, but in their homes in the community too.”

The Beef and Beer Dinner is one of two corporate events organised by the Manorlands Challenge Committee each year, which have collectively raised over £1m for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
