£1.3m boost for local arts charity Keighley Creative

Keighley Creative has been awarded almost £1.3 million from the government to help secure its long term future through the purchase and refurbishment of premises in the town.

The money comes from the government's Community Ownership Fund, part of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, which has awarded £1,279,312 to East Street Arts for the Hanover House project.

The money will pay for the purchase and refurbishment of the upper floor of the building, with the space brought back into community use with a space for artists' studios.

Robbie Moore MP said:  “The whole team at Keighley Creative have worked their socks off over the past few years organising some absolutely fantastic events for our community, and I'm proud to have helped secure this million-pound funding from our Conservative government. We have a rich heritage and cultural offering in Keighley and this funding will help Keighley Creative thrive long into the future."

Commenting, Jacob Young, Minister for Levelling Up, said: “We know how much these vital community assets mean to people across the country. They are an important lifeline for people young and old, and they’re the beating heart of our towns, cities and villages.  That’s why we’re stepping in to protect them with a major rescue package, so we stop these great establishments closing or being lost forever and ensure that they continue to sit at the heart of our beloved communities.”
